Comments about Traditions by Nick Chavez Horsetail Root Lifting Spray, 8 oz:

This gave me back the hair I used to have up to age 35!!!

I USED TO HAVE: loose curls with no frizz and body that made my waist-length hair stand up and away from my head by several inches. I used to have total strangers shout "OMG I LOVE your hair!", hippies and homeless people say, "your hair is like, so trippy, like an angel", little girls, depending on the decade, say I looked like "the girl in "Splash"" or "the girl in "Lord of the Rings"".

Then came late 40s and NOW I HAVE: horrible hair that suddenly has gone straight and so fine I can barely hold a hair between my fingers and looks plastered to my head even when dry AND electric-shock frizzy. This gave me back my good hair and I can't believe that I waited a year after receiving a sample of it to try it.

    Here's what I do:
Turn my damp head over and hold the nozzle about an inch from my scalp and give it good strong puffs while taking my other hand and simultaneously scrunching the roots and pulling them away from my scalp. This is crucial: turn your head so that the roots you are lifting are parallel to the floor. So, when you do the right side and temple, point your right side toward the floor. To do the back. lean back so that the roots on the back of your head are pulled away from your scalp. I just spray a chunk of roots once. Too much product will weigh fine hair down.

I use styling cream instead of mousse or gel, so I put my styling cream on next, including a little bit near the roots as usual. like I used to do back in the day when my hair was naturally fabulous.

Then I blow dry, always giving the roots a chance to lift away from my head, like I described when using the root lifting spray. I finish off the top and crown by grabbing a chunk and lifting it a few inches away from my scalp with one hand and blast it for about 10 seconds with the dryer, then move the dryer away and keeping it lifted for another 10 seconds until it cools a bit.

Then I finish off with hair spray after it's all styled, turning my head over and to the sides as i just described, to try to lock in the lift away from the sides and the top of my head. This root lifter had held my roots up and away for 10 hours, pretty much the whole day. Granted, the weather where I live has been dry, so the rain or humidity that makes curls and volume disappear hasn't been in play, but I have high hopes for this product given what I have experienced.

NOTE: this won't work if you leave your hair wet and leave it down. Kind of like hairspray, it will simply lock in the downward effect that the roots are already doing. It will probably look worse than if you didn't do anything to it. So, only use it when you're going to dry and style your hair.

Comments about Traditions by Nick Chavez Horsetail Root Lifting Spray, 8 oz:

I have medium length fine hair - lots of it, but it grows forward into my face and tends to cling to my head. Mousse works well enough, but leaves residue (even the good stuff from my salon). This works as well or better without leaving any sort of stickiness. I love it!

My daughter is a stylist and she recommended it to me. It works great. When I blow dry my freshly washed hair, I spray it on the roots where I want some lift. It stays lifted until I wash my hair again.
