Comments about tarte Amazonian clay 12-hour full coverage foundation broad spectrum SPF 15 sunscreen, light-medium beige, 1.7 oz:
This is one of my top three foundations. The other two are Smashbox liquid halo HD, and Laura Mercier smooth finish foundation powder. I use this one when I need my makeup to last for 12-14 hours (generally, for workdays). It has medium to full coverage, and doesn't irritate my sensitive skin. It also has decent oil control for my combination skin. You still need to set with a powder, blot with blotting papers every few hours, and re-powder lightly as needed, but it really does go the distance. Other long-lasting foundations (by MAC and Estee Lauder) broke me out. The Tarte does look a bit makeup-y, even if applied lightly, so when I want a more natural, skin-like look I opt for the Smashbox liquid halo HD instead. Also, you definitely need a primer underneath; I use a silicone-based one (Smashbox) atop a moisturizing sunscreen (by Paula's Choice). I wouldn't recommend this for dry skin, because if my skin is too dry then this goes on cakey. I used to apply it with fingers, and now use the Tarte airbrush finish foundation brush. I top it off with loose powder, then touch up with pressed powder, both by Laura Mercier. Tarte's large color selection is great; I use the light neutral shade, which has both yellow and pink tones (but slightly more yellow). (By comparison, I use #2 in Smashbox and #4 in LM). Because of the strong coverage, this looks the most natural worn with a bronzer (for sculpting) and highlighter in addition to blush.
