I have very dark circles under my eyes (aka raccoon eyes, allergy shiners). For 40+ years, I have tried the most highly recommended treatments, concealers, and gimmicks to either conceal or remove my perpetually ill-looking dark circles with everything from abject failure to moderate success.
Recently, I read in O magazine yet another bit of advice that sent me on yet another quest to find a solution. This time, I found what really works for me. I don't guarantee results, but if you're as frustrated as I have been all these years, it might be worth a try.
I put three dots of Smashbox Photo Op under each eye and blend well. (Don't be surprised if this makes your dark circles look worse at first.) I let this set while I put on my foundation, which I do not put around my eyes.
Next, I place sufficient Revlon PhotoReady concealer over the dark areas to completely mask the discoloration and blend it lightly into the surrounding skin, paying special attention to the areas inside my eye near my nose and just above my cheek where it is darkest. (I use a concealer brush, but your finger will work, too.)
I set it with a light dusting of bareMinerals hydrating mineral veil. (A large eyeshadow brush works well for this.)
This combination of products completely masks the discoloration yet looks completely natural in all lighting situations and lasts longer than I do in all kinds of weather conditions. None of these products alone or paired works the way the three do together.

Most reviewers mentioned how little this product actually did for their under eye area. A little brightening that lasted a very short time. Product does apply easity, but not sure it's worth the $$ for what little it actually accomplishes. If you have beautiful under eye skin, no dark circles or fine lines, this product might be for you. In fact, I gave it to my 14 year old daughter.

Comments about Smashbox Photo Op Under Eye Brightener, .24 fl oz:
This product gives me a dewy 'fresh' glow which looks very natural without being shiny. I have medium brown skin and use this in 2 ways: 1. Under my eyes (sometimes mixed with concealer to keep it from being too light). I don't have dark undereye circles - if you do, this may not be the best product for you. 2. Along my cheek bones (especially when I'm wearing blush). The effect looks nice in photos also.

Comments about Smashbox Photo Op Under Eye Brightener, .24 fl oz:
This is really good stuff. After months of trying the "old lady" concealers I was ready to give up and go without. Every one of them creased and was so thick I though I had borrowed my Grandmother's makeup. Finally I found this. Does it cover really bad dark circles - probably not. But for the rest of us it's a wonderful alternative, something in keeping with the trend toward less is more in makeup. It's very light weight texture smooths the skin around the eyes improving the color and texture. I don't go out of the house without it and will be ordering more.

Comments about Smashbox Photo Op Under Eye Brightener, .24 fl oz:
I use it over foundation and powder for touch-ups to hide darkness, circles under eyes, blemishes, and red spots.
Easy to tap on and blend in with fingertips. It brightens the skin when blended.

Comments about Smashbox Photo Op Under Eye Brightener, .24 fl oz:
I get it -- it's not meant to be a concealer, but rather 'a brightener'. Still doesn't do anything. Well, I take that back -- it DOES set in the creases of the eyes, even used over primer. So... I used it as a highlighter for cheeks, and it worked ok. Overall, TOTALLY not worth it.

Comments about Smashbox Photo Op Under Eye Brightener, .24 fl oz:
I got this as part of a Smashbox gift set (bought for the primer, which IS worth the money) and am very glad I didn't pay any extra for it. I have moderately dark circles under my eyes and this "brightener" didn't do a THING for them. I even applied concealer, then this and didnt notice a bit of difference. Don't waste your money!

Comments about Smashbox Photo Op Under Eye Brightener, .24 fl oz:
This product is a pinkish beige color with a little shimmer to it. I didn't find it oily at all. I have pretty bad dark circles but I don't like to use concealer because it looks unnatural. This makes my dark circles a little less noticeable without giving me a cakey overly made up look. It doesn't magically make your dark circles go away, but it does do a little something.

I use to cover dark circles under the eye. They do brighten the area, but I was hoping for a little more coverage or more "pop" for the eyes.
