Tail comb smooth acrylic avoids damage to hair. Mason Pearson Combs are manufactured in Switzerland by a contract manufacturing facility that ONLY makes combs. The same, strict, quality control standards followed in our brush making are applied to our combs. Mason Pearson combs are Hand Made from the finest celluloid material in the world. This is the same material used to make designer costume jewelry, hair ornaments, and eyewear. Look carefully at the tortoise pattern of our combs. You will notice, the 3D effect of the shell pattern. This is the result of an internationally patented process that replicates natural tortoise shell. The plastic comes to the factory in Switzerland from Italy in a sheet, where it is die-cut into general the general shapes of the comb styles. From that point, until the comb is finished, everything is done by hand. Each tooth is cut, one at a time, on a special saw. The comb is then tumbled in a polishing drum to smooth the surface. The next step is hand polishing to remove all burrs, sharp edges, and surface imperfections. Finally, it is buffed to create the high gloss finish. |

Comments about Mason Pearson Comb, Tail, 1 ea:
I have thin and fine curly hair. I usually use a wide-tooth comb for detangling, but I've been getting occasional tiny knots at the bottom of individual strands of hair. I thought that maybe using a finer tooth comb a couple of times per week on wet hair would help to catch those tangles and snags before they turn into knots (that I can't get out). I only use this comb after I already have leave-in conditioner in my hair, otherwise, I would not be able to get the comb through. That was use #1. Use #2 is that the rat-tail end is nice for root lift or separating curls that are too thick/chunky. My only con to this is that if you hold the comb near the end of the tail, it does feel flimsy and has a bit too much bend to it that way. I compensate by holding the tail closer to where the teeth of the comb are. This is not a deal-breaker for me. This is a great comb!

I have very thick hair that I like to straighten a few times a week. I use this comb to section my hair and assist in straightening. Does a great job without pulling or snagging my hair.

Comments about Mason Pearson Comb, Tail, 1 ea:
This is a great comb; I have thick but fine hair which tends to be limp. The teeth are close together on this comb, so it works great for back-combing the roots for a little lift. The tail is great for sectioning. It is not unbreakable, however. I just had to replace one that broke during use. Still, I use it daily and can't go without.

I'm very pleased with this comb. It was carefully handmade in Switzerland, so there are no seams or rough edges to damage hair. This comb glides easily through my hair. It's pricey, but it will pamper my hair for many years, and is absolutely worth it.
