Handy Mixture Bristle/Nylon Mix -Ruby Handle, For Medium Length Coarse To Normal Hair. Developed and patented more than 100 years ago, our Mason Pearson Hair Brush is the ultimate grooming tool. Only the finest, premium-grade boar bristle, which is gentle to the hair and scalp, is used. Brushing with a Mason Pearson Hair Brush is the best way to distribute the natural oils while exfoliating the scalp and stimulating circulation to the hair follicles. The patented pneumatic cushion conforms to the contours of the scalp, which optimizes brushing with minimal effort. All Mason Pearson Hair Brushes are hand made in England and carry a one year limited warranty against manufacturing defects. The animals are not harmed in the collection of the boar bristle. (Nylon cleaning brush is included.) This "Mixture" has a nylon spike to facilitate brushing through thick, textured, or wavy hair, yet may be used on all hair types. I've never been able to find a better hairbrush than this one. Have been using Mason Pearson hairbrushes for over 30 years and have owned less than 4. Had to get new ones because I lost them, not because they wore out. My first hairbrush I had for over 10 years. Excellent for fine hair as it does not pull or rip. The price for this hairbrush at drugstore.com is the best around and when additional discounts are offered, all the better! You will love this brush!! My teenage daughters with long fine hair love this brush too!!

I recently purchased this brush hoping to replace my lost Mason Pearson brush I purchased 5 years ago. I just received the brush for Christmas 2006, and to my shock and dismay, the quality of brush is extremely inferior to my purchase of 5 years ago. The bristles of the brush are now shorter by about 30%, and of inferior quality to my former Mason Pearson brush. You can see places where the seams of the rubber are poorly glued to the body of the brush. Sad. The body of the brush lacks the weight and substance of my former MP brush with the material of this "newer" brush being a lightweight, plastic-type substance that looks and feels cheap. The box the brush came in looks cheap, and now has a large plastic open window in the front, like the boxes used for Barbie dolls. The owners manual is disappointing; instead of a nice small booklet, you get some loose leaf piece of paper that is tri-fold and looks like it was printed on my home PC. I will be returning it.

This is the most expensive brush I've ever bought in my whole life. However, I was ready to try anything as I have VERY thick wavy hair and only wash it 2 times a week, because it takes so long to wash & dry. The roots tend to get oily and the ends are dry. I haven't had this brush long enough to notice a difference but I'm hopeful that it can help distribute the oils to make my hair look more healthy. It is a nice brush as you would hope for the price. Only time will tell if it was worth the money! On the plus side, it doesn't pull any hair out like some brushes do. This makes it easy to keep clean.

I am African American and currently wear Locs. I plan on taking my locs out and purchased this to help with the process. I tested it on strands that I have unraveled and --Love it. I think its a bit pricey but if you are only buying one hair brush to last-this is it. I was fortunate to have a 20% coupon so my wallet was very happy.

I have owned my Mason Pearson brush for 10+ years and still looks like new. It's the only brush my 4yr old lets me use on her.
My mom used it a few years back while visiting and said was best brush she ever used and asked where I got it. I bought it for her for Christmas knowing she would never spend this much on a brush but now 3yrs later she said its worth it and it still looks brand new.
Now I just purchased a third brush for my mother in law, who also used on a recent visit and raved as well asking where I bought it.
It's so worth the money since it lasts rather than pending less money on lower quality brushes that you need to replace yearly

I have had my 2 Mason Pearson brushes since the early 70's, when my best friend and airline co-worker told me this was the best investment to get for my long hair while shopping in the unique boutiques of Georgetown, Washington D.C. I got the full and travel size. Each came with a cleaner brush. I take care of them, keep them clean & they work & look just as beautifully as the day I got them. These brushes help keep my long hair healthy (now shorter at shoulder length), and are the only ones I use! They easily brush thru my hair & stimulate my scalp. A definite win-win investment.

mason pearson brushes are among my favourite products. they're well-made and durable. i bought this brush for travel purposes. i have fine hair, but i have a lot of it, and this brush does a great job of brushing it all out without ripping or tearing my hair (or my scalp!) like a previous reviewer, i also wish the bristles were a bit longer, but overall, i'm quite happy.

The product works wonderful. I have had one before and I love using them. I wouldn't use any other brush. For future users or other potentilal users, it is worth the $, I care for them properly and they'll last for a very long time. My first one was given to me by my mother as she has used nothing else and she used nothing else. Excellent product.

Mason Pearson has never had their brushes in boxes with see-through windows that Im aware of. I have a Mason Pearson and have had it for 10 years now. I am just now looking for a new one. It will last a long time and it's a great product. Would recommend to anyone willing to make the investment.
