I have shoulder length hair that is somewhat curly and frizzy at the ends. These pony tail holders provide a secure grip with a full puffy look. My hair tends to spring out of anything less than metal and the little stretchy ribbons tend to make my hair stick straight out. There is no pulling and no damage to my hair when I take them out. They are very comfortable to wear.

I have long, wavy hair. The band needed to be doubled to stay in hair. Both pony tail and bun sagged down. Caused breakage at temples of hair. True that it doesn't pull. Yes, comfortable, but not effective. Maybe for shorter hairstyles?
