Comments about Z Palette Customizable Makeup Palette 4U, Blue Faux Leather, 1 ea:
First of all, I own other Z palettes and love them: I purchased some large one's for myself and some friends a couple of years ago and have been impressed by how the magnets retain their strength over those years. So I decided to purchase another to travel with.
What I liked:
-Size: perfect for travel. The large z-palette is too big and the small is just too small. This is perfect for 2-3 blushes plus some shadows. It's about 6.25 by 4 inches on the outside.
-Water-Resistant Faux Leather. I sometimes have the bad luck of setting my other cardboard palettes on wet vanity by accident--this is easy to wipe off without worrying about water damage.
-Cushiony & Soft Faux Leather. I wonder if it absorbs shock better than even just plain cardboard if clumsy ol' me drops this.
-Metal Stickers! I purchased Z palettes before the metal sticker option was available and these are a great idea. I'm willing to pay for the convenience of stickers rather than going crafty and glueing the right metal onto the pans myself.
What I didn't like:
-not enough color options: the icey blue is quite pretty but easy to get dirty--would have liked other color options in faux leather.
-Weaker Magnetic Closure. Especially compared to the large Z palettes that I purchased a couple years ago, this new one just feels too easy to open--I have to exert more pressure to open my older used one's. And magnets supposedly can weaken over time.
-Weaker Magnetic Plate. I placed a shadow pan inside and it doesn't stick as securely to this new one as it does to my old one. My old palettes aren't as willing to let me remove a shadow pan as this new one. This is worrisome--has Z palette magnet quality gone down or did I just happen to purchase a faulty palette?
I will continue to purchase Z palettes but will only keep them if the magnet plate and closure are of quality (I'm hoping the quality didn't go down). The magnets on this one just aren't the quality I've come to expect from Z palette even though the faux leather and size makes it perfect for my purposes. On the other hand, the magnets aren't THAT weak--about the same as my UD Naked 1 Palette--which has never opened by itself in my bag. Going to think on this a bit more but for a new buyer to Z palette--I would not recommend this.
