My hairstylist sprayed a bit of this into his hands and then ran them over my styled hair for some shine. Yes, this product ADDS shine and doesn't really work like other "dry" shampoos. It smelled amazing in the salon, so I had to buy a can for myself, but it quickly became clear that it's too greasy to clean already greasy hair. I have wavy hair that I mostly wear straightened, but if I had coarser and curlier hair, the greasiness of this product might be fine (acting more as a leave-in conditioner/pleasant-smelling hair perfume). I'll stick to using other, much drier shampoos to clean and de-grease, and keep using the No-Poo more as a styling product for shine and delicious smell.
