This is a good idea, but, it doesn't work well. It pulls in the extra fabric in the back, but if you bend at all, the pants still go down and the elastic band rises to the maximum extent of the belt loops. You have to keep adjusting the waistband to stay under the elastic band. A non stretchy band would work better.

I fiddled with this thing over and over to try to get it to work - it seems great until you bend over and the elastic bags and rides up. I tried to cinch up a pair of low rise jeans this way, and it just doesn't work - need to use a regular belt. It would work great if you never have to bend over!
