this is a natural product that actually works well. i'll never go back to aluminum-based deodorants again. I got my mom hooked on it too!

I am truly surprised to see any ratings lower than 4 stars for this product. It is an outstanding truly all-natural deodorant, the only one (of too many to count) that I have tried that really works. In fact, it works so well that (not that I am recommending this!) it will even work to some extent the next day.
Some people don't like the scent of the particular fragrance, but I do. This must be highly individual, because, personally, I didn't care for the fragrance of any of the other varieties of this deodorant (and other people like those).
As far as it being messy, it is as messy as any other deodorant that goes on white. You have to be careful putting on a top, dress, etc. after applying this or, yeah, you will likely get some of it on clothes. However, it comes off easily with water (and super-duper easily with Solutions that Stick- Skid Out, which I got here- great for deodorant, toothpaste, makeup, etc., but wet it slightly, even though it doesn't say to.)
Since I know it may get on clothes if I am not careful, I put on tops,etc. carefully and I never have a problem.
Bottom line: It is a remarkably effective and genuinely natural (if, in my opinion, over-priced) deodorant. I don't think there is any other natural deodorant that comes anywhere near this in terms of, well, working!

I wanted to try a deodorant that didn't have all those pesky chemicals. This scent smells horrible! I don't smell vanilla or grapefruit. It has a weird musky smell that I can't stand! I won't be ordering it again.

Smells like old ladies talcum powder (and not in a nice way), leaves horrid white chalky marks, does nothing to aid the smell of sweat except to add the old lady smell!

It didn't smell like grapefruit and / or vanilla but more like old lady flowers. Goes on thick and cakey but the main thing was the smell... ick!

This is the best natural deoderant that I have tried so far. Goes on easy. No mess. Smells great. Seems to stop odor even during heavy sweatig. I do need to reapply towards the end of the day. But that is ok with me. Also some natural deoderats discolored my underarms and this did not.

I love this LaVanilla line of perfumes, and since I am unable to use anti-perspiriant, I tried the LaVanilla Lavender which wasn't strong enough. This scent did the trick at stopping odor. My favorite perfume in this line is this scent, so trying the deodorant seemed the next logical step. Very effective under normal wear conditions at stopping odor. I will always reach for this specific deodorant for work.I love knowing that Im wearing something without aluminum, too.
