I have tried several brands of eyeshadow primers and Urban Decay is my favorite. It did take some trial and error to pick a "favorite" so I'll briefly share what I like about the Original (this particular product) versus my the top two contenders (which is Two Faced Shadow Insurance, in my opinion) that I've tried and lend some tips to help with successful application.
The Original is an excellent choice for everyday wear because it has no color and dries invisibly. As with any eyeshadow primer, a little goes a long way! You really shouldn't need more than a BB (think BB gun, not beauty balm) to cover both eyelids but if you do, just adjust the amount needed modestly. It's also important to let the primer dry completely before applying eyeshadow (or eyeliner). When I've not done either of those in the past, I've found the colors are more difficult to blend and my eyeshadow sometimes appears cakey.
The consistency of the formula is light and silky. I apply it with my ring fingertip or a lip brush. I don't use any tool that will absorb it (tissue, Beauty Blender, Q-tip, etc.). When applying, I start at the corner of my eyelid and move outward, up to my brow but not past where I would normally apply shadow. (Though, for this particular formula it's not as important because it dries invisibly. My second favorite primer (Eden, by Urban Decay) dries matte nude so it's more critical to be precise when using it.)
In comparison between the Urban Decay products and Two Faced products, I've found that the staying power is greater throughout the day. I have never notices eyeshadow creasing and I use it every time I wear eye makeup (at least five days a week). I cannot say that I had the same experience with the Two Faced products. Also, Urban Decay's formula seems to stay consistent whereas I found that I had to start shaking or kneading the Two Faced tube to mix up the formula as the product was running low. Two Faced's potency was greater at first so perhaps the consistency and having to mix up the product had something to do with it.
My final "tip" for eyeshadow primer (that I've found with any brand) is that if you over apply and find that you're having trouble getting your shadow and liner to cooperate, don't try forcing colors to blend with your brushes or overpaying shadows. Use a gentle eye makeup remover and start over. The skin around your eyes is delicate so don't over burden it with heavier shadow than you'd usually wear or irritate it by over brushing the colors in an attempt to blend.
Good luck. :)

This primer fits the three star description "works just fine." But for [$], I expect more. It holds shadow on a little better, but for me it doesn't make the cut.I'm a fan of Urban Decay shadow, but it doesn't stay on my face. I tried this primer, it helped, but it still wouldn't make it through a regular work day. Sigh...sad face :(My favorite brand is Too Faced, and when I used the Too Faced Primer, I was able to wear my Urban Decay shadows all day long! YAY! Buy the Too Faced brand instead. It's a better product and costs just the same. It will keep even the cheapest shadows on your face ALL DAY! And, it takes much much less product, meaning you get a lot more bang for your buck!

This is the best primer I have used. It's nice to put under your bottom lash line to use as a base for eyeshadow as eyeliner for a softer effect.

Comments about Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion, Original, .33 oz:
I've been using this product and ordering it from Beauty, com for years. Unfortunately, my most recent shipment revealed Urban Decay has changed their packaging completely! Thus, the item actually shipped does not match the one in the picture. I ordered the original, which is supposed to come in a squeezy tube (shown). It came in a container with a shoddy sponge wand that makes application difficult. It would have been great if the item description was updated so I knew what I was ordering! I am giving them the benefit of the doubt and I'm hoping they at least haven't changed their formula, thus the 2 stars.

Anyone else have this problem?? I use this primer all the time - but just ordered in original and got the shade minor sin instead (even though I double checked my packing list and it said original). I emailed that it was wrong, and got the same color a second time. When I emailed again I was given a credit. I love shopping on beauty.com but am hesitant to order again. I did not like the shimmer of the color I received (minor sin). So, I would give 5 stars to the product, but took off one because I haven't gotten it this go round.

Comments about Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion, Original, .33 oz:
This stuff is awesome! It brings out even the lightest of eye shadows. I had a few colors in my naked palette that I have not used because the color would not show (Buck and Naked). Now, I can create the most natural smokey eye with natural colors which makes it work appropriate. I love how easily I can apply my eyeliner now and it refuses to smudge which is awesome! I use a pencil eyeliner because I am an amateur make up user and have not found the secret to applying gel or liquid. I will definitely use this product again when mine runs out.

I replaced this product after using up first tube. I could really tell the difference in the length of "wear power" when I don't use it.
It is well worth the money and lasts a long time!
You need to make sure you apply shadow while product is still moist butnot dry on lids. Not ddifficult to get timing..
Seriously this is one of my true make up finds in the last 5 yrs!

Comments about Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion, Original, .33 oz:
This is the best primer I have ever used. Buy the one in the purple tube, I don't care for the ones with added color. Your shadow and liner will stay on all day long. I put it on first thing in the morning and take it off before bedtime, the liner has not moved!
