The NARS duo is matte, unlike many of the duos. Portobello's two colors, in my own words, are a light grey-beige with a slight pink undertone (the lighter color) and a medium taupe also with a very slight pink undertone. For my fair skin these two colors are a simple two color eyeshadow that works well for a natural look although since these are highly pigmented they can be applied more heavily for a beautiful smokey eye.

I layer these eyeshadows (NARS portobello duo) over cream eye shadow ("lock down" by too faced in lovey dovey light), and the effect is a light brown shimmer (the shimmer is from the cream eyeshadow) The NARS duo in portobello are really similar in color, I haven't tryed them by themselves to contour my eye but the thing i love about thier eyeshadow is that a little goes a long way and you can layer it for more color. I wear this color for work. I would recommend the NARS single shadow in Edie under the brow bone for a highlight and the NARS eye pencil in black moon to the top lid, that eye pencil is the best one i've used! it doesn't disappear all day (lasts me 12+ hours) and it doesn't smudge down below my eyes to make me look like i have dark circles. NARS makes great products!
