I have very dark circles under my eyes (aka raccoon eyes, allergy shiners). For 40+ years, I have tried the most highly recommended treatments, concealers, and gimmicks to either conceal or remove my perpetually ill-looking dark circles with everything from abject failure to moderate success.
Recently, I read in O magazine yet another bit of advice that sent me on yet another quest to find a solution. This time, I found what really works for me. I don't guarantee results, but if you're as frustrated as I have been all these years, it might be worth a try.
I put three dots of Smashbox Photo Op under each eye and blend well. (Don't be surprised if this makes your dark circles look worse at first.) I let this set while I put on my foundation, which I do not put around my eyes.
Next, I place sufficient Revlon PhotoReady concealer over the dark areas to completely mask the discoloration and blend it lightly into the surrounding skin, paying special attention to the areas inside my eye near my nose and just above my cheek where it is darkest. (I use a concealer brush, but your finger will work, too.)
I set it with a light dusting of bareMinerals hydrating mineral veil. (A large eyeshadow brush works well for this.)
This combination of products completely masks the discoloration yet looks completely natural in all lighting situations and lasts longer than I do in all kinds of weather conditions. None of these products alone or paired works the way the three do together.

Most reviewers mentioned how little this product actually did for their under eye area. A little brightening that lasted a very short time. Product does apply easity, but not sure it's worth the $$ for what little it actually accomplishes. If you have beautiful under eye skin, no dark circles or fine lines, this product might be for you. In fact, I gave it to my 14 year old daughter.

Comments about Smashbox Photo Op Under Eye Brightener, .24 fl oz:
From the description, I did not understand that this product is applied under your concealer. You need to shake the tube before use. Then you use the top (with brush) to apply. The formula is rather watery, even with vigorous shaking. I put it where I want it, then dot with my fingertips. It is pretty much colorless; just leaves a slight shimmer. When I apply my concealer, which is a matte cream, it pretty much neutralizes this subtle "brightening" effect. So I doubt I'll purchase it again since I like my concealer, or experiment and try applying it over the concealer.

Comments about Smashbox Photo Op Under Eye Brightener, .24 fl oz:
Don't expect this to be a heavy concealer. It is what it says it is, an under eye brightener. After applying an eye cream, just swipe this product using the soft brush cap applicator all around your eyes, under the eyebrows, too. Then blend it in gently with a fingertip. Some people said it is too thin in consistency. It would be thin if one is using it as a concealer. I love the light feel. Eyes look moisturized and bright without being sparkly.

Comments about Smashbox Photo Op Under Eye Brightener, .24 fl oz:
I've never had a problem with dark circles so I don't use concealer. I probably would not have tried this, but it came in a packaged set that I bought. Now I'm hooked! I have very fair skin, and this gives me just the right amount of brightening without looking obvious. I use it all over the eye area.

This is the best product I've found for covering dark circles under my eyes. It's a little bit hard to get it on evenly but once you do it lasts a long time and is very effective.
