When my sister said she was allergic to mascara a few years ago, I thought, "How? It doesn't touch your skin." Now, it's my turn, and I understand. As the mascara flakes off the lashes, minute bits get in the eyes, on the skin - and voila! An allergic reaction. My first attempt was to find mascaras with the least likelihood of flaking off. That was okay, but when they did I was still itching. This brand is the first I've worn in years where about 4 out of 5 days a week, I have no allergic reaction. Sometimes, I'll end up rubbing my eyes a bit due to this, but not often. The down side is that this is a very thin mascara that smudges off easily, and goes on very, very lightly. I do like more defined lashes with separation - not fat - but this is too thin. Also, while it's not waterproof, just the slightest bit of moisture removes it. Very easy to remove, but also requires more mirror checks than I'm accustomed to doing.

I will buy this again 'cause 1) it works, and 2) it leaves me with minimal allergies. But, I'm still on the hunt for the perfect one!

High quality natural ingredients. Doesn't clump or smudge. Very natural look but can apply multiple coats if you want a more over the top look. I have tried the Volumizing version and did not like it - drying and flakey. The original is the best. Pricey but comparable to dept store brands that have ingredients you really don't want anywhere near your eyes.

After years of not being able to wear mascara because of allergies, I finally found Dr. Hauschka's version. I have no problems with it. It's not a dramatic looking mascara, but more natural looking. Not clumpy. It does smudge if I wear it to the gym, for example, and sweat a lot. Going about my normal day, though, it stays on well. Thanks to Dr. H for making a non-irritating product and to Drugstore.com for carrying it.

This mascara is hard to find. It is the only mascara I like and I've tried several dept store as well as drug store brands and nothing comes close to Dr. Hauschka. I only like the original.

I have absurdly dry and sensitive eyes, and have tried more brands than I care to admit, searching for a mascara that doesn't aggravate the problem. Once it finally dries, this brand does not seem to aggravate the ol' peepers, but while it's drying, I basically can't even blink for fear of smudging, and blinking is sort of essential (esp. if you have dry eyes). However, even if I was okay with not blinking, I would still be underwhelmed. Basically, all it does is make my lashes blacker, but not any thicker or longer. My search continues...

I've been using this mascara for years, and it is my favorite. Every time I try a differnt brand, I'm not pleased. I particularly like the fact that it goes on smoothly, does not clump at all and is very black. I think if you have sparse lashes, or like a "fake lash" effect, this is really not the mascara for you. If you already have good lashes and like to just enhance them a bit then this works really well. I also like the new Dr. Hauschka Volumizing Mascara if I want a bit more impact to my lashes.

I did think this was a nice natural mascara with little clumping. But I have to agree, I have oily skin and at the end of the day it ended up smudged underneath my eyes. I tried it for a couple more days thinking maybe it was because of the humidity or the rain, but it kept doing it. If it had a bit more staying power I would have kept it but I had to return it.

Wow, a GREAT product for our WAY too often over worked eyes. It smells good and is fabulous for someone who struggles from allergies. I can NO longer use the mascaras with the fibers in them, which is the MAJORITY. This brand ROCKS, you cannot go wrong and they look so natural.

I'm trying to replace all my makeup with eco friendly products and I am pretty satisfied with this one. It goes on smooth and isn't clumpy. I do notice a little smudging under my eyes by the end of the day though...nothing a little wipe can't take care of though. I will definitely purchase again.
