I don't know how I ever lived without this product. My fine, wavy hair ends up too soft and flat without products to give it body and dimension. It is vital that this product is applied correctly or you will hate it and declare that it's too heavy or makes your hair look dirty. I have short, layered, wavy hair that is dry and color-treated. I use a smoothing product and a light mousse while my hair is wet. After drying my hair completely, I take about a nickel-sized portion of this paste (start with less when you are just beginning - you can always use more and you need to get a feel for how much you need.) Rub your hands together vigorously until the paste is distributed thinly enough that you can't see it (you don't want to see any white). I then run my hands through the ROOTS of my hair. Don't apply to the ends yet if you are looking for volume. You will be amazed at the lift you will get and it's not overly stiff and certainly not sticky. I will then take my fingertips and rub them across my palms to pick up any small amount of product that might still be on my hands and rub any split or dry ends or frizzies with my fingertips. Or you can very gently dab your fingertips into the paste, making sure that you get such a small amount that it isn't white or rubbing off the excess. If you think the product has rubbed into your hands and you don't have enough, that's probably the right amount! This paste gives me lift, volume, smooths the dry ends, and gives me just a bit of texture, definition and separation. It would work just fine on hair that is all one length. Just be SURE to use tiny amounts at a time, emulsified in your hands, at the roots only at first. If you don't overdo it, you will be pleased with the results. I have never found another paste or styling creme that works as well. I don't need to use hairspray at my roots as this product gives me all the lift I need and lasts extremely well.

There area bunch of good reviews on this so i was hoping it would work. i have thick short hair and like to use pomade/paste to create texture and style. this stuff does not offer ANY hold for my hair. it smells great (like sugary almonds) but really doesn't do much.
i can't really fault it as I am STILL searching for that magic product that offers hold and doesn't feel stiff like gel. for my really thick straight hair, i'm afraid that products just doesn't exist.

Comments about Jonathan Product Dirt, Texturizing Paste, 3.35 oz:
I have used so many products over the years on my short, texturized, color treated hair. This product is awesome. I'm thrilled with the way it handles my style and the next day it stays the same with no shampooing necessary. I want to now try some of the other Jonathan Products offered. Good-bye to others, lots of them.

Need just a dab and rub between hands then apply. Smells fantastic! has a nice strong hold yet doesnt dry out or flake. I have short thinning hair and this makes it fuller and gives it texture. A jar lasts me about 6 months.

Comments about Jonathan Product Dirt, Texturizing Paste, 3.35 oz:
I have short, straight hair cut in layers with longer bangs. I have used "Dirt" every day for years, and I love it! For my style, I just take a very small amount (about the size of a pea) and rub it hard between my hands, then work it all over my hair. The hold is excellent, but it is very soft and looks natural. An added benefit is my husband loves the smell; he says it smells like sugar cookies. This is the only product that works for me without making my hair too stiff - giving me a helmet head - or greasy. Please keep carrying this one!

Comments about Jonathan Product Dirt, Texturizing Paste, 3.35 oz:
I still have half a jar (and a jar lasts a long time), but I panic at thinking I might have to be without it, so I'm buying another. I've used this product for a couple of years. My hair is short, straight, and thick. I use Dirt after drying to give it lift and texture. Simply rub a dime-size dollop between hands to warm and work thru hair, then shape. Works all day.
