I've got a sensitive scalp (and sensitive skin in general) and have been battling dandruff as a result of coloring and regularly heat-styling my hair. I am also prone to eczema on my legs and face.
Anti-dandruff/scalp-rescuing products that are safe for color-treated hair are difficult to find. I bought this product because it said it could help my dandruff, was safe for color-treated hair, AND could also be used as a body wash during psoriasis or eczema flare-ups.
To my surprise all these claims have been proven true in my experience. I was very glad to notice a dramatic reduction in scalp flakes after my very first use. Also during that first use I used a small amount on some patches of eczema on my face and noticed the skin in those areas isn't as flaky or inflamed as a result.
The smell isn't great - it's like bengay-masked-with-tea-tree. It rinsed totally clean though, and I didn't notice a lingering scent (especially once I used my conditioner).
Thumbs up on this one.

I've had oily dandruff for years, and have tried many products. Considering the product's high price I am disappointed. While the product does seem to do a good job of cleaning the hair, it seems ineffective on oily dandruff flakes. To boot - it has a distictly unpleasant smell. It may be good on dry dandruff, but if your problem is oily dandruff, search elsewhere.

Comments about Philip B. Anti-Flake Relief Shampoo, 7.4 oz:
I have psoriasis on my scalp pretty badly. I used this shampoo and in 3 days there were no flakes or itchiness at all!! I have tried so many shampoos for this problem that I have lost count. The smell is not offensive at all. I think that it just smells very herbal like incense or something similar. I have been able to use this daily with no drying out of my hair or scalp. I've also been able to skip it for a couple days and use a different shampoo and the flakiness/itch hasn't returned.

Comments about Philip B. Anti-Flake Relief Shampoo, 7.4 oz:
I can't say that this shampoo is a substitute for my psoriasis medicine, but it adds quite a bit of relief when I forget to use my icky scalp medicine, and can get me through the day. It has a runny texture (probably due to natural ingredients and lack of emulsifiers, which is fine by me), but a little bit seems to go a long way, as it lathers a lot. Be sure to massage it into your scalp - don't just lather your hair. It smells a tiny bit medicinal still, but it is about 300 times better than the drugstore branded tar shampoo. I have curly hair, and I am very selective about my shampoos, as dried out curly hair is a recipe for disaster. I use this shampoo about twice a week to keep my scalp happy, and I sincerely recommend it for anyone with flakey scalp issues.

Comments about Philip B. Anti-Flake Relief Shampoo, 7.4 oz:
This is the only shampoo that I have found to be truly effective for my itchy flaky scalp - traditional dandruff shampoos dont work for me because I dont have traditional dandruff - my scalp gets dry and itchy and has red patches in spots when its bad. No other shampoos has made any significant difference until this one. It does kind of smell like car wax to me, but I only smell it in the shower, the smell does not linger at all. It is also quite runny, but if you follow the directions and work it into a later in your palms before putting it on your head, a little goes a long way. I wish it were a bit thicker, and not so expensive, but given that it actually WORKS i will definitely be purchasing again.

Comments about Philip B. Anti-Flake Relief Shampoo, 7.4 oz:
I usually wash my hair with this 2-3 times per week, but sometimes as long as a week between treatments.
This stuff does not smell like head and shoulders/selsen blue/etc. The herbal ingredients smell like themselves, no discernable perfumes. It smells of juniper and herbs, and I have gotten compliments from my Sweetie on how my hair smells after using it.
The BEST part is: This Stuff WORKS! It really, honestly works. My normally itchy, flaky, dry scalp feels healthy and nourished. The flakes are gone, and stay gone for up to a week between uses.
It is Gentle, Smells pretty darned good, and WORKS! Ignore the price tag, and just try it. Sometimes you DO get what you pay for. This is one of those products.

Comments about Philip B. Anti-Flake Relief Shampoo, 7.4 oz:
I have psoriasis on my scalp and need prescription medication. This shampoo is an excellent product. I am using much less medication, since I started using this shampoo and the overall condition of my hair/scalp has improved. My hair is more manageable and feels nicely conditioned, while my scalp does not itch and has very few flakes. This is a very good shampoo, I will purchase this again. Yes, it is expensive, but if you need this type of treatment, it is well worth the price.

Comments about Philip B. Anti-Flake Relief Shampoo, 7.4 oz:
After reading all the good reviews how could it have a bad review your thinking.. right? i read them all and was so excited to try this product.. considering spending lots of $$$ alone on a small bottle of shampoo you better be excited! but when i got it and tried it i had to and still have to, use a palm full every time just to cover my hair. its so runny and doesnt work the first wash i have to always wash my hair twice everyday. i wish i could go a few days without washing my hair then it would actually mean the product is working.. but no. i have to wash my hair everymorning or else my scalp will itch. And on top of that it litterally smells like dog shampoo.. not medical. but dog shampoo. I will never recomend this product to anyone. it does not fix the problem it hides is for a few hours.. DONT BUY THIS. youll get it and regret it and realise its to late, they dont value their customers so youll be stuck with an expensive bottle of dog shampoo!!
oh and its been about 3 weeks or longer that ive been using it and its the same as day 1.. i am definatly NOT impressed.

Comments about Philip B. Anti-Flake Relief Shampoo, 7.4 oz:
I've been using this product for a month. Right before I ordered it, my husband told me I needed to stop wearing Black. I've had psoriasis for years. After using this shampoo for just a couple of weeks, my flakes disappeared. After years of trying many different shampoos and even some prescription products, my dry scalp has finally disappeared.
