I apply this on top of my sunscreen and under my foundation. During the day I sometimes put more of it on top of my foundation (gently, so it doesn't remove the makeup) and occasionally I wear it without foundation. On days when my skin is unusually oily, I put powder on top of this. It keeps shine away longer than anything else I've tried (I've tried many, many powders and mattifying products) and it never irritates my skin or makes my acne worse.

If I could, I would give this product negative stars. (The review process makes you choose at least one star.) This gel made my skin oilier than before I applied it. By midmorning my face is an oil slick. I gave this product more than one try and to no avail, oil eruption, every time. I am particularly upset, because of the high cost of this ineffective product. Comments about Peter Thomas Roth Max Anti-Shine Mattifying Gel, 1 oz:
This product is a godsend - probably even more useful for guys than women since guys don't as a rule wear makeup.....and this stuff blocks shine without looking like makeup. Which is essential for most guys with this problem. Before using I typically looked like I'd been running wind sprints 2 hours after getting out of the shower in the morning....very oily complexion. Now I look normal for at least 6 hours.....sometimes longer. I WISH I'd known about this product years ago........

Comments about Peter Thomas Roth Max Anti-Shine Mattifying Gel, 1 oz:
I have pale skin, so I must use sunscreen every day. I've tried many different sunscreens for the face, but they all leave my skin looking greasy/shiny. I follow up with PTR mattifying gel though and it gives my face a perfect, matte, smooth surface. I only need a light touch of makeup and my face has this wonderful radiant, perfect skin look that only gets better as the day wears on. I discovered this gel because of a free sample and now I wouldn't face the day without it. Even with no makeup at all, my skin looks great with this gel on top of my sunscreen. It's THE single best thing I've ever found for my face. I'm 53, and even though I wish I'd had this 30 years ago, I'm really glad to have it now.
Comments about Peter Thomas Roth Max Anti-Shine Mattifying Gel, 1 oz:
I have oily skin in the t-zone and this product works when initially applied. But after a few hours, it stops working and must be reapplied. There must be better products out there. I love PTR products, but this one just isn't very good.

Comments about Peter Thomas Roth Max Anti-Shine Mattifying Gel, 1 oz:
Effective! Worth the money! I have the most oily & shine-prone skin - this works the best of any product I've tried. I wear this without makeup on the weekends. I allow about 30 minutes between this & makeup (Philosophy's Supernatural Airbrushed Canvas) when I am wearing makeup. A little goes a long way and it lasts a long time!

Comments about Peter Thomas Roth Max Anti-Shine Mattifying Gel, 1 oz:
This product is amazing for oily skin but I do have to blot my T-zone and reapply during the middle of the day. An effective combo I've found for oily skin is using a bit of corn starch powder (the main ingredient in Bare Essential's Mineral Veil) on top of it. A comparable product (and far cheaper) is Monistat's Chaffing Powder Gel which has the same main ingredients as the PTR Mattifier. I find though that the Monistat gel does cake if you put on too much whereas that doesn't happen with the PTR Mattifier.
Also, using a glycolic acid wash and 2% salicyclic acid toner daily has worked wonders for controlling oil, break outs and serious sebaceous irritation and peeling on my face.

I have used literally every oil control product on the market. This is the ONLY oil control get that works for me. Just wish it had a SPF in it.

Comments about Peter Thomas Roth Max Anti-Shine Mattifying Gel, 1 oz:
This product works great- does just what the product description says it does. My only complaint is getting the product out after its about half full- its hard to get it to come out by just squeezing so you have to actually take the top off and use a finger or Q-tip to scoop some out. But its a small price to pay for a good product!
