I know I'm not following the directions, so please read my review with a grain of salt (does that even work in this case?). I don't have acne so much as chronic skin irritation caused by pollutants, cig. smoke, benzoil peroxide, oxybenzone, and a number of other common ihgredients in anti acne products. The pattern is for an itchy bump or patch to sneak up, become more irritable and produce serum which crusts up, and together with the redness LOOKS like acne. I am not in denial, I swear!
So, this PTR product has a high percentage of sulfer, which turns out to be just the thing to calm my irritation. Since I've been using this product (over a year) I have had no unsightly patches of irritation. I do use a small amount all over my face before bed. I am so pleased with clear skin and not having to be uncomfortable under cover-up and foundation. Don't need them any more!
Do be cautious when you try this. Sulfer and other ingredients can be harsh on different skin types, and PTR has very high concentration.
Hope this is helpful to someone! Having clear skin is such a blessing and a confidence booster.

I purchased this product from PTR b/c I (still) think that PTR is one of the more skin-friendly lines and is not as harsh as other brands (while maintaining quality). However, I can't really say whether the product actually works for its intended purpose b/c I couldn't use it as much as recommended because of the awful smell. I could only use a tiny bit on a q-tip on acne spots/blemishes. It is one of the more sulfur-y smelling acne products out there, and it was a truly overwhelming and sour smell.

Comments about Peter Thomas Roth Acne Spot and Area Treatment, 1 fl oz:
I have struggled with acne for over 30 years, and this is the best thing I've ever found to spot treat all types of acne, including cysts. It is the only thing that stops a breakout before it comes to the surface. If I apply it as soon as I feel a blemish coming up, it stops it and it goes away. Yes, it does have a strong smell of sulfur, especially at first, but to me that is a small price to pay for something so effective. I never want to be without this stuff!

Unfortunately, the pump does not work - as another reviewer noted already there is no way to get the product out without the pump - the product is too expensive for it to have just a poor quality packaging.

Comments about Peter Thomas Roth Acne Spot and Area Treatment, 1 fl oz:
Since I've been using this product, my skin is clear enough to go bare (sans makeup)! The unique combination of sulfer and glycolic acid seems to be what my skin wants. My problem is not so much acne, as sensitive, irritable skin with rashes that turn out looking like acne (really, there's a difference even though it sounds like acne denial). I recommend using cautiously at first due to the high percentage of sulfer. I know it is contradictory that this combination could work for someone with very sensitive skin, but for me, it's been a miracle worker. I can't use benzoil peroxide or salicylic acid, but I've discovered that sulfer is what calms my skin.

Comments about Peter Thomas Roth Acne Spot and Area Treatment, 1 fl oz:
This is a great treatment for drying up pimples overnight. I use it as a spot treatment, especially after popping a whitehead. The sulphur seems to dry the pimple and kill the infection better than any other product I've tried.

Comments about Peter Thomas Roth Acne Spot and Area Treatment, 1 fl oz:
This product is a little stinky and does sting, but you should use it only on small spots, such as directly on single pimples. It zaps those zits away faster than other products that I have used, including dermatological ones.
Comments about Peter Thomas Roth Acne Spot and Area Treatment, 1 fl oz:
I am giving it 4 stars instead of 5 only because of the pump. I don't like the fact that if the pump breaks you cannot twist the top off to get into the bottle. Besides that I think it is great!! It does everything it says. It controls my oily skin (plus my pores shrink) and it helps my acne. I agree with the other reviews that it does have an ugly smell. But after I put some moisturizer with sunscreen (which everyone should do), it makes the smell go away. PCA sells the best moisturizer with SPF 30 sunscreen that is oil-free. This is the first one that actually does not make me break-out. And even if I have a pimple it does not make it worse.
Comments about Peter Thomas Roth Acne Spot and Area Treatment, 1 fl oz:
This works pretty well. However, if I'm being honest- it smells horrible. I've used other products with sulfur, and none have been as offensive as this one. Nevertheless, it is pretty effective at calming mild breakouts.
Comments about Peter Thomas Roth Acne Spot and Area Treatment, 1 fl oz:
This product is decent at stopping breakouts from becoming worse but I have used other products that are cheaper that work just as well. I was a little disappointed since this product contains sulfur but didn't work as well as other products, such as facial masks, that contain sulfur. This product may work better if your breakouts are fairly mild.
