The Great Pretender Shimmery Self-Tanner 5 fl oz (150 ml)
$21.50
The Great Pretender Shimmery self-tanner for body Nature's color copier, sugar-derived DHA, the tan-active, interacts with skin proteins to let you pretend you've been sunning when in truth you've been shunning. Deep color develops, darkens and dries quickly to make even lilywhite limbs look richly and believably bronzed. And the tinted formula delivers instant beautification. Shows what you've done and still need to do. Glycerin leaves skin glistening and shimmery-smooth for days. And the refreshing aroma of Orange and Peppermint enhance the sense of sunshine. Dermatologist tested. Oil-free and Non-acnegenic. |

As a fair-skinner redhead residing in the southern US, I am ALWAYS on the lookout for a natural-looking, easy-to-apply self tanner. Not only does this Origins product fit the bill, but unlike many other self tanners I have used in the last 15 or so years, The Great Pretender does not leave my skin dry and flaky. I have found that, regardless of the self tanner one uses, two things are of ultimate importance: exfoliate first (I use a loofah and exfoliating body wash) and apply moisturizer to areas that tend to be dry and, therefore, absorb too much of the tanner. I moisturize my feet and ankles as well as knees and elbows for an even faux tan.

I just don't think I have the patience for stinky self-tanners. This product was so smelly going on. Even once it was absorbed into my skin, I still smelled like that awful odor whenever I was sweating. In the week after, I turned the water orange whenever I shaved anywhere I had tanned. The application itself was a sticky, tacky, mess. I threw the product in the garbage.

Comments about Origins The Great Pretender Shimmery Self-Tanner, 5 fl oz:
The Great Pretender is a great way to get a natural-looking tan without all the baggage that goes with actually sitting in the sun. It goes on smoothly, is not at all greasy and dries quickly. The slightly minty aroma is way better than any other self-tanner I've tried. It is a bit pricey, but I've stretched my [$]/tube by using it in conjunction with L'Oreal's Sublime Glow - a little dab of this mixed with a little dab of that and presto - a great looking tan in minutes! (Be sure to let it dry completely, but if you do get it on a piece of clothing, it washes out easily.)
Pros
- Nice scent
- Non-comedogenic

I use to love their let it show. Cant find it anymore and dont know why...I tried this and so far so good. It smells so nice and dries fast....seems to be a nice color and is not real expensive but the tube isnt very big either. I like origins things. There skin creams are wonderful. Hope this lives up to the rest of their products. What happened to LET IT SHOW? it was so popular and then they stopped making it. I think prehaps it turned into the great pretender. That did have a tendency after a bit to go orange.

Comments about Origins The Great Pretender Shimmery Self-Tanner, 5 fl oz:
This is by far the best self-tanner I have ever used, and I have tried SO many over the years. My skin is very fair and I have freckles, but this gives the most natural looking tan I've ever had. Not only does it NOT streak or cause blotchy stains on the knee caps, it dries quickly, and doesn't have an overpowering smell. The "Shimmery" part is more like a healthy glow, not a sparkly or glittery look. The product has a tint so you can see where you've applied it, but it did not stain my clothes.
Pros
- No smell nice shimmer q
- No stain
- Quick to dry
Cons
- Little tacky
- No SPF
Best Uses
- Anytime

Comments about Origins The Great Pretender Shimmery Self-Tanner, 5 fl oz:
I love this self tanner! I have tried almost everything- spray tanning, and every dept store and drug store brand in the book! It has been by far the best one yet. It blends so naturally, doesn't smell bad and has a slight glow. It looks like a natural tan-no stark lines and no staining of my hands after application. With some, I can wash and wash my hands and still it stains!! I cannot say enough about this product- it is really something I can't live without! Especially in the spring and summertime! Thanks Origins!
