For best results, apply to freshly washed, exfoliated skin, then prep with Mystic Tan's Sunless Conditioning Complex™. Apply to mitt and smooth onto body lightly & evenly, with a gentle, circular motion. Use sparingly around knees, elbows and ankles as these areas tend to darken more quickly. I consider myself a spray tan connoisseur and have tried every recommended brand on the market from drugstore brands to Tan Towel, Kate Sommerville, St Tropez, and everything else you can find at Sephora. This is by far my favorite. It has a slight smell but faint compared to most. I recommend buying the cream version of this over the spray, as the spray is very tricky to use well. You can apply another coat to deepen the color the next day or apply it mixed w/ a creamy lotion for a more subtle color too.
PS- I have fair skin and light hair & eyes.

I have not experienced the problems the last reviewer had with uneven coverage and orange color. With good exfoliation (I use a dry brush) and using the base from the same product line, I find I get good, even coverage and a color that looks natural on me. I am naturally very pale and aim for only a light tan - anything else looks odd on me. So I'm not sure how this product would work if you were after a real sun-baked look. In short, it's not fool-proof (I have not found a self-tanner that is) but it's my tanner of choice at the moment. And I like the mitt!

For the price of this, I was absolutely disappointed in the product! It was just as bad as a $5 cheap bottle you'd buy at the drug store! I don't know if it was the mitten or what, but I felt uneasy with the application. My feelings were confirmed when I woke up the next morning with streaks, splotches, and an orange color!
I'll try it again with gloves, but am not expecting much of a difference! UGH!
