Each brush comes with a lifetime guarantee against manufacturing defects, but not against normal wear and tear. Regular brushing plays an important part in the condition of your hair. The Mason Pearson Hairbrush cleans the hair, stimulates the scalp increasing the blood flow to the hair roots. A natural conditioning oil - sebum - comes from the hair giving it strength, suppleness and producing a healthy sheen. To maintain the quality of the Mason Pearson Hairbrush it is not mass produced. Most of the work is carried out by hand, using techniques pioneered and patented by the founder - Mason Pearson - over one hundred years ago and improved over succeeding generations. Mason Pearson Hairbrushes of London, England were established as a premier hairbrush manufacturer in the 1860s. From the time of its inception the company has pioneered hairbrushes that are designed to maximize the health and appearance of the hair and scalp. In 1885, Mason Pearson invented and patented the pneumatic cushion for the hairbrush, thus creating a unique brush that retinas its desirability as an elegant cosmetic accessory to this day. The brush is product in the "old world" manner, with many steps executed by hand and extra care taken to create a magnificent hair product. Why Mason Pearson? Hairbrushes by Mason Pearson are recognized by discriminating consumers as unique in both design and quality. The distinctive design incorporates spired, uneven tufts of boar bristle and nylon mixture set in a pneumatic rubber pad that enables each individual tuft to penetrate through to the scalp. Mason Pearson's ingenious brush construction achieves the desired type of scalp stimulation by adjusting automatically to the contour of the scalp without irritation. Equally important is the quality of the bristles. Mason Pearson uses only the finest quality natural bristle from the wild boar - preferably from the colder climates, where boar bristle grows heavy and strong for protection. Animals are not harmed in the collection of bristle. In addition to the all-natural boar bristle, Mason Pearson offers a mixed bristle version. These contain a nylon strand in each tuft of pure boar bristle to afford better penetration to the scalp. The durable nylon strand, with specially rounded ends, is longer than the boar bristle and serves primarily to massage and stimulate the scalp, bringing out the natural oils. The company also offers all-nylon brushes designed to gently brush out he hair after shampooing. Mason Pearson's bristle is just right! if the bristle is too soft, it cannot penetrate to the scalp completely. If the bristle is too hard, it can cause inflammation and soreness of the scalp. Customers quickly discover that a Mason Pearson brush feels terrific and performs beautifully. Made in London. |

I am a complete fanatic when it comes to my hair. It is long, dark and straight. That means I get a ton of knots and it can also look dull. This brush is the first brush that does everything it is advertised to do! It leaves my hair silky, smooth, and shiny!!! The brush design feels nice agains the scalp- no pain and no pulling and tugging through knots! This is a big investmnent for a brush, but I have read reviews where some ladies had the brush for years! To think of how much money I spend on haircuts, this brush seems worth it!!!

I guess I'm in the minority here, but I didn't like this brush at all. I have a lot of hair, but per strand it's fine. This brush made my hair very flat and seemed to distribute the oils in such a way that my hair looked greasy. I tried using it with my head upside-down, to add volume, and it just made my hair unmanageable. A former hairdresser friend of mine couldn't believe what it did to my hair. So I tried to use it on my kids and they wouldn't let me because it hurt their scalps. No go on the Mason Pearson for me. I gave it away.

[$] on a hairbrush seems ridiculous on the surface. After reading many positive reviews all over the internet about the Mason Pearson Boar Bristle & Nylon Hairbrush, I decided that there must be hype for a reason. I've got VERY fine hair and a LOT of it so my hair gets tangled super easily. With my past brush (a brand I can't even remember) I wound pulling out a lot of hair in my attempts to detangle it. From the first use of this brush, I could tell that I'd be keeping more of hair since this brush is MUCH more gentle than any brush I've used before while still detangling. I'll be treasuring this brush for years and will be recommending it to all my friends. I love my hair and it deserves to be treated well!

This is a very nice brush that appears to be very well made. I have much cheaper brushes that work just as well. It does look a lot nicer on my vanity table than other brushes:)

I've owned both this brush and the similar Frederic Fekkai brush for several years, and believe me, the Fekkai brush works EVERY bit as well and costs only $95. Still expensive, but nearly HALF THE PRICE of the Mason Pearson brush.

Although I can't tell if this brush makes my hair look miraculously shiny or glossy, it definitely smooths out my hair. It easy brushes through my thick long (mid back) hair and feels great on my scalp (though the nylon center bristles can feel a bit prickly if pushed down too hard on the scalp). Very nice brush!

A brush in this price range should not start losing bristles after 3 years.[...]Try an ISINIS hairbrush instead and save [$] .I can not tell the difference and think the Isinis brushes are a true bargain.I will NEVER buy another MP hairbrush.

Comments about Mason Pearson Boar Bristle & Nylon Hairbrush, Large Size Popular, 1 ea:
I've got two Mason Pearsons. The big one is great for untangling my mid-back length, straight, fine but plentiful hair. The one drawback (aside from spendiness) is that the bristles are kind of ouchy on my sensitve scalp. I think the big brush is better suited for quite thick or wavier hair. The mid-sized brush, which I've had for about ten years, works better for my straight, fine hair. Either way, it really takes care of my hair - even through changing hormones of pregnancy. My hair has grown longer and healthier than when I was 16, I think because it doesn't break off before its time. A great splurge for women who love timeless quality. Also a nice shower gift, college gift, sweet sixteen from an aunt or grandma with say some fabulous shampoo and conditioner set.

Cons
Best Uses

- Redistributes scalp oil
- Smooths flyaways
Comments about Mason Pearson Boar Bristle & Nylon Hairbrush, Large Size Popular, 1 ea:
I have had my current brush for 10 years and its like new.
I use it at the hairline to smooth flyway hairs.
I use it to smooth ponytail.
I use it to brush out curls from curling iron set.
I use it on the last day of a blow-out to redistribute scalp oil.
I use it to make my hair shine.
I would not use it to blowdry as this would weaken base.
This brush is not expensive when you consider there is no substitute and it lasts REALLY IT DOES.
