using this treatment allows my me to flat iron my hair to be stick straight in about 15 minutes (as opposed to 45)! also, when i leave my hair curly it literally air dries in a fraction of the usual time. in weather that would typically cause frizz, my hair is smooth and silky. this is a life changing product for me (and my husband who loves the reduced time for me to "get ready" to go out)!!! my hair looks and feels longer, healthier and smoother, and now i have options that are quicker and easier! really unbelievable!

I have been getting my hair relaxed with X-tenso every 6 months for the past few years (X-tenso being a gentle thio relaxer by loreal....loosens curl but doesn't make hair straight). Anyway, when I found this product I thought it would be a great alternative.
On the box it states clearly that you can use this on damaged, relaxed, color treated, etc. hair, and that it will actually improve damage if you have it. My hair is relaxed and color treated (to cover greys) but in good healthy condition. I've been growing it out for a few years and it finally got to halfway down my back.
So, I used this product and followed the direction to the letter. It states to put product in, wait 30 mins, blowdry, then flat iron at 450 degrees. So that's what I did. After doing the process my hair looked really straight. I think it may have lifted the color a bit, but no big deal.
By the next morning, my hair was breaking off like crazy...some close to roots, some near the ends. There was literally hair all over my bathroom. Everytime I would brush the hair was just coming off everywhere. When I washed it 2 days later (as per the instructions) I was horrified to see that my hair had turned into a gummy mess, snapping off with the slightest tug. The bottom 2 inches were completely fried, like a birds nest, and no amount of product would smooth them out. It was a complete disaster. Also, all the little hairs by my neck snapped off near the roots.
I did 2, 30 min deep conditioning treatments over the next few days, but very little improvement. So, I caved and had most of the damage chopped off. But I didn't want to go too short, so the ends were still a bit frayed and snapping off. And forget about wearing it curly! The hair dried into a disgusting crispy matted-looking mess.
Here's the important part: I think the problem is not the product, but the heat from the flat iron. 450 degrees is way too hot for 99% of people's hair. Basically, I burned the living daylights out of my hair, hence the breaking, fraying, and gumminess when wet. Devastating!
Anyhow, after a week I did the keratin treatment again but this time I only blow dried and didn't flat iron at all. My hair still looks a bit damaged at the ends but it's not breaking nearly as much. The true test will be when I wash it again in a couple of days...whether the gumminess and stretchiness is gone.
Bottom-line, this product does relax hair. It also destroys hair if you follow the directions and use an ultra-hot flat iron. I recommend blowdrying completely then going over each piece only ONCE with a moderately hot flat iron. And leave the little hairs on your neckline and around the face alone....flat iron heat is too much for these and will burn them right off.

This product came with easy to follow instructions. The first 48 hours my hair was stick-straight but felt a bit greasy. I saw a bit of difference from my usual cotton candy after the first washing, but after that, it was exactly the same as before. I won't buy it again.

It seems like this is a love it or hate it kind of product. I guess like anything, it works differently on different people. I know my hair loves this stuff! I do a treatment every 4 or 5 weeks. One bottle lasts me about 2 - 3 treatments. Don't expect salon results, this is a DIY product and is a great, inexpensive alternative!

I was very disappointed with the amount of work this took to do!!..then to see that it did nothing for my hair, it was the exact same maybe this may work on people with extremely thin hair,..but anyone with volume or thickness,..I don't think it will work!!....I went and spent the [$] for the professional Keratin and my hair looks shiny, straight and so much of the frizz is gone,..I highly recommend going the Professional route!!

Well I bought it very excited, I used it exactly as indicated, my hair was greasy and the smell was awful. After 48 hours I washed it, and my hair blow dry natural, it was normal, the same than before, not better, then I used flat iron it looked shinier and healthier, it takes the same time to get my hair done not less, then I washed my hair the second time and it looks dry the same than it used to be before I used the treatment, so i won't buy it again. it is minimum it did for my hair. The shampoo and conditioner are too small it does not worth the price. My scalp is dry and itchy as well.

I used this product exactly as directed and it did not work at all. I called and was told to redo. I tried that. My hair is not that curly but it is a waste of [$]. Try to return it!!

This product is wonderful! It completely flattened all my frizzy fly a ways, and made my hair very sleek and shiny. The only problem is finding the time to do the treatment. I work and have two children, so finding time to apply the product, wait, and then blow dry and straighten was a little tough for me. However, it was well worth it in the end because of the decreased styling time...my hair even looked good air dried. You have to leave it on for 48 hours and the smell reminds me of a "spray on tan." However there is no odor after you wash out the initial treatment. Also, read the instructions so you know how to care for your hair after the treatment...certain shampoos are off limits since they will remove the proteins from your hair.

I'm sorry but I can't say anything good about this product. It didn't work. I have had it done in the salon and it was very expensive and it made my hair smooth and less frizzy.This product that I ordered on Beauty.com was nothing like the salon Keratin. And to top it off they don't give you your money back if opened.So umm How are you supposed to know if it works or not if you don't open it and try it?? Don't waste your money.

The product was easy to apply and my hair was perfectly straight and frizz-free for the first 48 hours....until I washed it out. I still had to blowdry and iron my hair as usual, and this product did not cut my styling time at all. My hair went back to its normal state right away. I can say that I saw a very slight improvement, but not nearly enough to use this again. The professional way is much more effective.
