John Masters Organics Honey & Hibiscus Hair Reconstructor is a super-intense conditioning treatment for revitalizing and restoring your hair. The perfect reconstructor for very dry, damaged or color-treated hair.  May be used after each shampoo or as a weekly treatment as needed.

We've improved the Honey & Hibiscus Hair Reconstructor to be even more beneficial to the hair.  Here's some info on the new ingredients:

  • Tilia Tomentosa (Silver Linden) Bud Extract - Provides a conditioning and protective effect on the hair.  Rich in bio-polymers which increases water retention in the hair shaft, protects the hair from UV, wind and humidity - leaving hair hydrated and smooth. Microscopic studies have shown elimination of scales at hair shaft and a reduction in split ends.  It also strengthens hair elasticity and provides easy comb-through of hair after application.
  • Theobroma Grandiflorum (Capuacu) Seed Butter - Cold-pressed from seeds of cupuacu trees native to northern Brazil, it is rich in oleic, stearic, palmitic, arachidic and linoleic acids - making it highly moisturizing.  Provides increased moisture retention and helps combat eczema and psoriasis.
  • Fagus Sylvatica Bud Extract - A complex rich in peptidic factors obtained from beech tree burrs.  This extract increases keratinocyte protein synthesis, resulting in the strengthening of the hair which contributes to a smoother feel.  Also has moisturizing properties.
  • Macrocystis Pyrifera (Kelp) Extract - Extracted from seaweed, it is a natural moisturizer.  Kelp is very rich in mineral content which softens, smoothes and adds a natural shine to the hair.

And here's more information about the existing hyaluronic acid:

  • Hyaluronic Acid - Rebuilds and strengthens the hair.  It plays an important role in the way skin and hair looks, feels and functions.  A natural complex sugar, it's a major component of the connective tissue in the dermis - the dense, inner layer of skin beneath the epidermis.  This matrix is made up of hyaluronic acid as well as two connective fibers - collagen and elastin.

As you age and your skin is exposed to environmental pollutants and the sun's ultraviolet rays, your cells gradually lose the ability to produce hyaluronic acids.  Studies have shown that older skin and hair typically has lower levels of hyaluronic acid.  As you age, skin tissues and hair shaft can become dehydrated, resulting in a loss of volume.

By its nature, hyaluronic acid retains water like a sponge, absorbing more than 1,000 times its weight.  This helps to attract and maintain water within the extracellular space, hydrating the hair follicle and increasing its volume and density.  Hyaluronic acid is also involved with the transport of essential nutrients and provides volume, helping to reconstruct the hair and contribute to the overall healthy appearance.

I tried this conditioner to go with the shampoo (which I absolutely love). I really like this conditioner, but I'm not in love with it. I have very fine hair (but a lot of it) so flyways are often a problem if a conditioner doesn't do what it's supposed to. I have not had any problems with flyways since I've been using this product. So I DO believe it's a great product. But it's lighter weight than I'm used to, so I'm still trying to get used to that aspect of it. I also wish it came in a larger tube. I use conditioner every day so I'm going to end up buying this size at least once a month. If it were offered in a larger bottle, it would be easier on my wallet!

If you are careful to only use a tiny amount and spend a long time rinsing very thoroughly with hot water, then it will make your hair look great. It does a lovely job of reducing frizz, even in humid weather, and smells very pretty too (like honey). However, if you don't have the time to do that, you'll have to go through the whole day with a residue that weighs hair down and makes it look limp and greasy. By no means put it on your scalp! Also, it is not a detangler at all. It's sticky! I'll use up the bottle now that I know how to use it right. I do think it improves the condition of my hair somewhat. But I won't be re-buying. Product takes too much patience to get good results.

Comments about john masters organics Honey & Hibiscus Hair Reconstructor, 4 oz:

This is not a deep conditioner. I have medium-fine, highlighted hair, and this feels more like a daily conditioner to me. The scent is fine... it's a little heavy on the patchouli, but it doesn't last long in your hair anyway. It's a nice conditioner, but I don't think it's worth the money. I wouldn't buy this again.

I think if the price was better I might give this 3 stars. This conditioner leaves tangles in my medium thick hair. It's not a very big bottle and I had to use a lot in my shoulder length hair. Not worth the money at all.

Doesn't work for color-treated hair. The irony! Within days, my hair was dry and dull.

Comments about john masters organics Honey & Hibiscus Hair Reconstructor, 4 oz:

I love this conditioner. I have fine hair that easily gets limp with many conditioners, but this one is perfect for daily use. It smells fabulous and a little goes a long way. I don't consider it an intensive conditioner however, and wish there was also a richer version of this available!

Comments about john masters organics Honey & Hibiscus Hair Reconstructor, 4 oz:

Tried this "intensive conditioner" for first time today. The smell is extremely strong in the shower but then tones down after blow drying. I kind of expected a treatment to give my hair more "conditioning". I had major tangles. I have thick, wavy, color treated long hair that gets majorly abused with blow drying and hot iron straightening. It feels ok but not more "conditioned" than when I use my Redken all soft.

By Susan

Comments about john masters organics Honey & Hibiscus Hair Reconstructor, 4 oz:

This stuff is pure magic. I've tried all sorts of "natural" shampoos and conditioners, but none of them really helped my hair. Almost immediately after I started using this hair reconstructor my hair became incredibly soft and shiny. After a couple of weeks of using this and other JMO products my husband said, "I don't know what you've been using on your hair but it looks great and it's so soft!" The fact that my husband noticed is proof positive that this stuff works.
