Comments about Hot Tools Blue Ice Titanium 3 Barrel Waver, 1 ea:
This was the only waver I found with barrels small enough for my preference. Unfortunately, it's more of an old-school curling iron, without the features of the newer ceramic irons I've grown used to.
My main problem was that this iron doesn't have plastic-coated cool tips. This waving iron is VERY heavy, and I accidentally let the front of it drop down the first time I used it, resulting in a bad burn on my forehead. Most metal curling irons are coated with plastic on the tip of the barrel, which makes it easier to use because you can rest your fingers on the cool tip, and it would also prevent accidental burns to the skin. So I'd say safety is an issue with this iron.
I also wasn't happy with the fact that it's metal instead of ceramic. This iron gets very, very hot, and it burned my hair the first few times I used it (even though I always use heat protectant.) I could smell that burnt-hair smell, which is something I haven't smelled in years! I couldn't find a ceramic waving iron with small enough barrels, so that's why I chose this metal model, but I think my hair suffered from that decision.
However, it does make very nice waves in the hair, although they weren't as long-lasting as the ones a ceramic waver could produce.
