Comments about DERMAdoctor POETRY in Lotion, 1 oz:
I got this because it was well reviewed in Allure and I am looking for something that combats two of my skin issues: new wrinkles and mild to moderate breakouts. I didn't find this overly drying as I used it every other day or every few days, but I also didn't notice it helping with my fine wrinkles OR my breakouts. It's expensive for something that isn't great so I will not buy it again. I've been using Correct + Antiaging from Skinceuticals and I find that is much more effective.

Comments about DERMAdoctor POETRY in Lotion, 1 oz:
This product works because it contains a very high concentration of retinol, which is a retinoid (Vitamin A), related to Retin-A.
I don't have particularly sensitive skin and I tried several times to tolerate the lowest dose of Retin-A but it was just too irritating.
This is a fantastic product. It has such a high amount of retinol, that it works as well as the Retin-A (my experience) WITHOUT the irritation. It immediately made my complexion look more even and radiant (retinols increase cell turn-over), and with continued use, it is lightening some mild hyperpigmentation and fine lines (retinols are known to do this if they are strong enough).
Also, though I am in my 40s, I still break-out easily and this product allows me to use sunblock without breaking out. That alone is great, because all sunblocks used to make me break-out (the main use of Retin-A is for acne and this retinol is so powerful that it has stopped my break-outs).
The downside to this product: no getting around it, it is pricey. Also, I have oily/combination skin. If you have dry skin, you are going to have trouble with ANY strong retinol, as they are all drying.

Comments about DERMAdoctor POETRY in Lotion, 1 oz:
This works every bit as well as the hightly popular SkinCeutials 1.0; however, the bottle for Poetry in Lotion is pure genius. The pump pops out of the top of the tube when twisted. One pump dispenses the perfect amount of product for the whole face, and then you twist the tube again, and the top recedes. None of the product is exposed to air, and you never have to worry about losing a cap. The bottle really isn't why I love this stuff, though, but after wasting hundeds of dollars because of malfunctioning SkinCeuticals packaging (I've yet to see a bottle that actually works), it's wonderful to be able to use all my retinol cream. I love this because it's remarkably gentle. SkinCeuticals is gentle, but every now and then I experienced irritation. Poetry in Lotion is soothing. It's light, and very easy to spread; almost gel-like, but still a lotion. If you're interested in giving a high potency retinol treatment a try, I highly recommend Poetry in Lotion because it truly seems to be gentler than others, even lower potency retinols.

Comments about DERMAdoctor POETRY in Lotion, 1 oz:
I have tried other 1% retinol products and they were very irritating to my skin even though I had used less potent retinol before. Poetry in Lotion does everything it says it will do without irritating my skin!
