Comments about Borghese Superiore State-of-the-Art Mascara, Prima Plum, .3 oz:

I'm 30. My hair is dark blond which i color lighter and my eyelashes and eyebrows are blond, my eyes are green. I wear mascara only a few times a year for special occasions - I don't feel like I need it to look decent and I'm too lazy to take it off at night. So when I do wear mascara, it better be easy to manage and not make me look like a completely different person. The latter goal is why I choose plum or auburn colored mascaras - even the browns are too dark and make me look like dumb Barbie (I do have very long albeit invisible eyelashes).

I've had this mascara for almost a year and have worn it maybe six times. I think the color is fine although it has too much red for my taste - at the base of my eyelashes it makes my eyelids look inflamed. I'm sure it would be less disturbing on darker roots. My biggest gripe is the formulation: it goes on watery (read smear as you apply), dries really fast, does not hold curl, and flakes as I brush it out with an eyelash brush. It brushes out poorly too - it's own brush does not offer good separation and the situation is barely improved by using another brush after applying. The result is dried out lashes covered in uneven layers and sticking out unwanted directions. I regret wearing mascara every time I decide I will give this another try. I am also always late when I use it because of how much time I spend brushing and picking off flakes.

Cudos for making one of the few remaining plum mascaras. Sucks that is it so bad.

For comparison, I've used my Clinique mascara in black. Yes, the color is WAY dramatic on me but it is SO much easier to apply and wear through the day without being constantly annoyed by the stray lashes in my field of vision.

Comments about Borghese Superiore State-of-the-Art Mascara, Prima Plum, .3 oz:

I was very disappointed to receive a mascara which apparently had been opened or tried before and not completely closed but repackaged. It was totally dried out and unusable. This is the first time I have been disappointed in a Beauty.com product and I was really looking forward to using this.

          Very frustrating and disappointing.

Comments about Borghese Superiore State-of-the-Art Mascara, Prima Plum, .3 oz:

I guess the mascara itself is fine but the 'plum' coloring didn't show up at all. I have fair skin and light lashes so I thought it would be obvious but it just looked like brown mascara. Would not buy it again.

Comments about Borghese Superiore State-of-the-Art Mascara, Prima Plum, .3 oz:

As far as mascara goes, this product is excellent. My only issue with it is that the color is a pale brownish purple, with the same intensity as any brown mascara, which is actually lighter than my natural lash color.

Comments about Borghese Superiore State-of-the-Art Mascara, Prima Plum, .3 oz:

First, after reading the reviews for the black color of this mascara on this website I thought I would try this plum mascara. I have greenish-blue eyes and reddish, fair skin and was looking for something "different". Also, I need a mascara that won't irritate my contacts and removes without oily removers. It also cannot flake or run or smudge -- raccoon eyes defeat the purpose of wonderful eyelashes! And ladies, this is it! This mascara gives my eyelashes incredible definition -- I got a compliment on my "long" and "pretty" lashes from the gal that waxes my brows the first time she saw me wearing this! It goes on smooth and adds some volume and length -- but still looks natural! And the plum color is very much a brownish purple and very, very subtle. I doubt if anyone will say, "Oh, you're wearing purple mascara." And I have had that happen with other brands! It contrasts with my eye color and without any other eye make-up makes my eyes "pop", in my opinion. My husband even mentions how "pretty" my eyes look when I wear this. It washes off easily with my regular face cleanser and warm water and does not require any rubbing or other harshness to the delicate eye area. It is expensive -- but this is my one make-up indulgence and my eyes are worth it! I highly recommend this mascara to anyone looking for definition, some subtle volume and added length, long-lasting, and gentle. I just bought another tube I love it so much!
