Fine siliceous earth in a soothing botanical base gently exfoliates dead cells without damaging pores or capillaries. This organic-aloe-based exfoliant combines diatomaceous earth from the depths of the sea with soothing and nutrient-rich plant extracts for profound cleansing, buffing, and removal of dead cells to improve overall skin health absorption of nutrients. Daily use softens and refines skin's appearance and allows increased absorption of nutrients from moisturizers.  Refines fine lines when used consistently.

Not for some sensitive or broken-out skin.

I first used this at my last facial and will never use another scrub again. This one is IT! It is pricey, but rest assured, a tiny pinky-nail size amount covers the face so this bottle goes a very long way. Also, I am willing to pay a little more for a natural scrub that works. Astara's Daily Refining Scrub is unlike any scrub you ever had--it has tiny "scrubbers" that feel therapeutic. I have always had tiny blackheads on my nose with larger pores in that area, and after about 7 days, this scrub took care of them and they never came back since. I'm in my mid-30s with combo skin, no skin problems, and this product feels so nice. It's non-drying, non oily. It leaves my skin so perfectly balanced that I often forget to use toner or moisturizer afterward. Treat yourself just once to this product: Your skin deserves it! I'm going to buy a bottle for my sister next Christmas. P.S. Per an earlier review: I actually like Astara's packaging! Simple, classic, elegant.

The scrub is pretty abrasive (e.g. think drugstore brand Apricot Scrub/grainy)so if you have sensitive skin I would use it with caution. Even with normal skin, I would probably use no more than 2-3x a week. The scrub smells like fresh Grapefruit (i.e. citrus-y smell) and leaves your skin feeling soft, clean, exfoliated, and supple. I don't think it's worth the price though - I think there are cheaper alternatives out there unless you're looking for natural product. Packaging can use some work though - as other reviewers complained below, I had similar experience.

I've been using Astara daily refining scrub for almost two years now and believe me, the price is worth it. If your skin can handle it, do the 30-day in a row routine...your skin will be so smooth and polished, as if you had underwent expensive microdermabrasion treatment. Do the same to your hands...you'll love the results.

Comments about Astara Daily Refining Scrub, 6 oz:

This the best scrub I have ever used, and I buy a lot of expensive products. I stopped using it and my face broke out and my skin stopped looking fresh. The scrub is wonderful smelling, has very small particles and makes my skin look healthy. The pump is horrible though. I spent days trying to get it to work once. I love the blue glass bottle, but think the pump is the cheapest pump that the vendor could find to save money.

Comments about Astara Daily Refining Scrub, 6 oz:

This is the best scrub I've ever used (and I've tried a bunch, of varying prices). I have very sensitive skin, prone to breakouts on my chin especially. I also get a build-up of foundation around my nose, which starts causing my skin to flake, if I don't exfoliate. This is not a super-gentle scrub, I have to say - but for my skin, the extra-gentle scrub doesn't really work. I put on a layer of moisturizer, then apply the scrub on top of that, and wash it off. Works like a dream! The moisturizer gives a little cushion in-between my skin and the granules. I gave this 4 stars because, after reading the reviews, I agree about the packaging. Generally, a complaint I have about cosmetics anyway is that you can lose a lot of product if the packaging sucks. This is the case here. I like jars best, because you can get all the product out and recycle the container.

Comments about Astara Daily Refining Scrub, 6 oz:

I agree that this is the best scrub I've ever used. It smells very fresh and clean, it's fairly gentle, and it polishes your skin clean. However, I think the packaging is so terrible that I could only give it three stars. The pump broke almost instantly. The scrub is a little runny and messy to empty into another container, and it's just a pain. They should put it in a squeezable plastic bottle.

Comments about Astara Daily Refining Scrub, 6 oz:

I used this three nights straight. I have a huge problem fighting breakouts in certain areas of my face, so finding the right combination of products is never ending. I use an antibacterial face wash twice a day, a toner for oily skin and an oil free moisturizer. But every once in a while I have these stubborn break outs, and once I used a sample of this (on clean dry skin) my skin became a little red (that's why I used it at night, by the morning I looked pretty normal again), but the results are amazing. My stubborn spots cleared up and even old red spots have gone away not to mention the softness and minimal pore surface. All this in only three days. I figure it's too abrasive to use everyday, but just to start out on it, it is a great product.

Comments about Astara Daily Refining Scrub, 6 oz:

This is quite possibly the best scrub I've ever used: it exfoliates very nicely, has a great scent, is not irritating, and polishes the skin.
The reason I gave it 4 stars (and seriously considered giving it 3 stars) is because it has the worse packaging ever! The pump is so inadequate and clumsy for this thick scrub; I ended up emptying it into another container so I could use it. To make matters worse, the bottle is slippery, heavy glass- perfect for falling while you fight with the useless pump. This would be so much better in an "upside down" tube!
