I've started using the kit for almost a week, and I am following the directions that came with it. I usually have dull dry skin that gets kind of flaky on my cheeks. After using the kiwi soap on the first day, my cheeks were not flaky anymore. My skin looks better. It feels soft and sooth to the touch and has a healthy glow, and for that, I gave this 4 stars. My one complaint is that it leaves my skin with a tight sensation as if it is dry even though my skin looks moisturized and feels soft when I touch it. This tight sensation is bothersome so I'm not sure if I like the products as much. I do recommend this, but you might want to use another moisturizer in addition.

The Basic Five travel bag is not only great for traveling, it is also a great way to introduce yourself to Arcona products. The kiwi soap found in this kit smells naturally delicious and does not dry out my skin in the winter months.( During the summer I will switch to the tea tree soap found in the normal and oily kits). Even though I have normal skin, sometimes it gets feels a little dry in the winter, which is why I need a creamier soap and the kiwi soaps fits the bill.
If you truly have dry skin you may need an additional product or two from the Arcona line. What is nice about buying the travel kit, is that included in the bag is a full brochure of all the Arcona products, which tells you how the products were developed, the ingredients, and a step-by-step guide that highlights the whens and the hows to use the products.
While the scent of the Desert Mist is "interesting," I do not agree with another poster that it smells like soy sauce, although, it does smell somehat unconventional for a face product-not unlike food. And, I do prefer that it smells like that over any synthetic fragrance.

I've only been using this kit for 4 days and even after just 1 day, I could tell my skin was better hydrated, calmer, and healing. Before using the Arcona kit, I would over moisturize with heavy creams (b/c I have dry skin!), then that would create breakouts and I would use something to dry that part of my skin- resulting in breakouts and dry, flaky skin. Arcona has balanced my skin without a heavy moisturizer! All of these products feel light, yet my skin is not flaky. I love the kiwi bar- it is super moisturizing! I love magic white ice- smells awesome. The only cons- the desert mist smells awful. It truly smells a lot like soy sauce, but my skin seems to love it. The gentle solution also smells not so good, but again my skin loves it, so I'm using them despite the smell. Whatever is in it works. Before Arcona, I was in a bad cycle of using tinted moisturizer & concealer to hide the redness and unevenness of my skin. Now I am finally in a place where I don't think I need any tint on my face- it's really pretty all natural now- I feel comfortable using mascara, a little blush, and lip gloss- that's it!

I'm trying to switch all my facial products over to natural ones, so I'm trying several different brands (buying their travel size kits). I was REALLY disappointed in this line. After reading so many wonderful reviews, I was really expecting a lot more. With eczema and dry skin, I felt it was not moisturizing at all, in fact my skin felt like it needed more moisture than before. The "moisturizer" was not a moisturizer, but a serum (I need moisture, hence the dry skin kit) and the desert mist stuff smells HORRIBLE. I cannot believe I spent this much on facial products but was willing to splurge if it really worked. Haven't noticed any difference in my face except the eczema got worse and my face is constantly tight and dry. I tried this after trying the Boscia normal to dry kit, and was MUCH, MUCH happier with the Boscia line of products (and it was a lot less expensive). In fact, I'm going to buy more of that today! Thank goodness I only have travel sizes of this stuff.

I have always had dry skin, and am always looking for the perfect blend of products to really address the signs of dry, flaky skin, fine lines, and wrinkles. This system really has made a difference. My skin feels more hydrated, so much smoother, and really glows. Love the Arcona line. Worth the money!!
